The 2005 SXSW Website redesign has nearly been completed. We are doing a bit of very last-minute final testing to try to make your experience on the new site as glitch-free as possible.
We expect to be able to launch the site for the 2005 season tomorrow or in the next day or so ready to accept festival applications and conference registrations. Your patience is sincerely appreciated!
For the second year running, SXSW Film has partnered with Austin's most independent theater chain, the Alamo Drafthouse, to present encore presentations of some of the films showcased at this year's film festival. The SXSW Summer Cinema Series, beginning August 3rd, will feature a new film each week, screening exclusively at the Alamo Drafthouse Downtown in Austin, TX. Come check out films you may have missed at SXSW 2004, or revisit films you loved the first time!
Dear Pillow is a dark coming-of-age story about a 17-year-old supermarket bagboy who tries to get a job writing pornography. He finds a mentor in hisneighbor Dusty, an aging ex-porn filmmaker who writes for Dear Pillow, a "hot letters" magazine.
Contact the Alamo Drafthouse Downtown for specific times and ticket prices.
Mark your calendars now with next year's dates.
Beginning September 1st, the lowest rates of the season will be offered to purchase a registration badge for all three SXSW conferences in March.

SXSW 2004 featured many lively discussions, films, and trade show exhibitors talking about redefining the political process and getting involved in upcoming elections. SXSW Film offered an entire slate of political films, and SXSW Music had several politically active participants this year as well. So, whether your are conservative or liberal, Republican or Democrat (or somewhere in between), we encourage you to get involved in the 2004 political process. The most important first step in this process is registering to vote. Registration information for first-time voters is available on the web at http://www.votervirgin.com, a site whose founder was selected as the first ever SXSW Interactive Invitational Keynote Speaker For One Minute. Do it now and start being a true patriot by voting locally, statewide and nationally!
