Flatstock is a bi-annual concert poster exhibition and collectors show that debuted in San Francisco in the summer of 2002. Co-presented by the American Poster Institute (API) and South by Southwest (SXSW), Flatstock 4 will feature the works of more than 80 artists from across North America and Europe. Posters representing decades of styles, colors and techniques mirroring the trends in popular and underground music culture will be on display
A series of poster-making workshops have been introduced for Flatstock 4. Each morning before the exhibit floor opens, experts will demonstrate techniques and give insightful tips. On Friday, artists from San Francisco's Firehouse Kustom Rockart Company will demonstrate the silk screening process including the use of metallic inks. Then on Saturday, Austin's Mig Kokinda will instruct attendees how to create prints using stencils and spray paint.

The American Poster Institute is a nonprofit corporation dedicated to serving the poster artist community and promoting the art form. The Flatstock shows provide the American Poster Institute with a way to present poster artists collectively while showcasing the breadth of international styles they represent.
